Spinnakers Vacation Cottages

It is believed that in 1956 a fish camp was built at this address, at that time they used palm trees as insulation in the walls! When we purchased this property in 2001, we remodeled and found that to be true! Today however, you will find our property to be a lushly landscaped private compound that consists of three cottage style rentals. Having loved sailing for many years, my parents named our small resort Spinnakers and the cottages, Cabin 1, Cabin 2 and The Crow’s Nest.

When you find yourself at the corner of Gulf Drive and Carissa, you will have found our corner slice of paradise, simple and charming. Enter under a trellis covered in fragrant Jasmine vine you will feel tucked away from it all, behind Areca & Fishtail Palm trees, bright flowering Bougainvillea and many other tropical plants, to many to mention! Swaying palms, the gentle sound of the Gulf of Mexico and the tropical breeze intoxicates with the scent of sea air and sunshine will sooth your soul! We are family owned and operated and look forward to sharing our island with you!

No two rooms are alike… each of our cottages are unique yet they feature the comforts of home with a full kitchen, one bedroom with Queen-sized bed, a sleeper sofa and flat screen TV in the living area. Each cottage also has an outdoor sitting area. The Crow’s Nest is our largest cottage with an additional sleeping loft with two twin beds. All cottages are pet friendly. The pool is shared by the three cottages.

Our saltwater pool is inviting! Step into the refreshing cool or warm (depending on if the heater is on during a cold front) water and take a swim or soak in the spa portion of the pool- crank up the heat and unwind!

The pool area offers a few chaise lounge chairs to lie around on, get sun kissed! Or other patio furniture allows you to be able to cook out… BBQ poolside on either the gas or charcoal grill, have a picnic and sip an afternoon cocktail and listen to the green parrots sing from nearby trees.

We are only a short stroll away from the sugar- sand beach! Head out first thing in the morning, welcome each new day searching for shells or going for a swim in what at times is the lake-like Gulf of Mexico. Build sand castles, fish, or just sit back and relax. End each day with an amazing sunset. We offer our guests the use of beach chairs, umbrellas and even wagons to tote your gear to the beach in! Each cottage also has beach towels in addition to the bath towels.

From May to October, witness the sea turtle nesting season.

We are located within walking distance to great locally owned shops, delicious restaurants, interesting local art and antique galleries in “downtown” Holmes Beach. Or within walking distance to trolley stops that can take you north to the city of Anna Maria or south to the city of Bradenton Beach. Each city is to be explored!

Another great way to see Anna Maria Island is from the water! Consider a coastal cruise on our family boat the Gnarly Mangrove with Capt. Don Meilner for more info: www.gnarlymangrove.com
